Bryce Canyon. The next few pictures are at Sunrise Point--at sunrise. We thought we would be two of just a few! Not so. It was a good group of people albeit many, who just wanted to experience a fabulous act of nature. Enjoy.

Again, hard to describe the wonder of this beautiful country of ours. God Bless the USA.

As I am writing in this blog, Linda has asked me to be brief and not boring so I am trying. This is 9/11. Flags are at half mast. Our men and women in the service are serving world wide. They are also heavily involved in the rescue and clean up efforts in Texas and now in the Caribbean, Florida and other southern states. Please keep them in your prayers and the people that are in need of  help.

    Really enjoying your pictures and comments! Keep it going! BTW we caught tropical storm Irma. You cam imagine with all of our trees. It's going to take quite some time for the cleanup! God was merciful and nothing real big came down on our buildings just a small part of our fence and our property is littered with tree limbs etc. we were MUCH luckier than others. Florida is a real mess! Love you guys...stay safe and enjoy!

Montezuma's Castle. Tuzigoot ruins not too far from Jerome AZ Above and below are from Jerome AZ. This was and still is an artist colony. Very 'hippie' in it's day and, I feel, today! Beautiful with incredible views of the Verde Valley. Saw this painting above in a gift shop in Jerome, then spotted the same truck on the street. We were experiencing this day via a guided bus tour of the Verde Valley to include the town of Jerome and the more famous town of Sedona AZ. We also went all the way up and back the Oak Creek Canyon. The area surrounding the Verde Valley is known as 'Red Rock' country. You can see why. A Horned Toad safely hiding around the cactus. Evening sky from our campsite. 2017 Sep 15 Vicksburg

On our way home we stopped at the Vicksburg National Military Park. This is the site of one of the deciding battles of the American Civil War. It is beautiful, historic, but with a tragic past. No matter your political, religious beliefs, or ethnic back ground you need to understand that this was a tragic time in the history of this wonderful country. It is parks like this that remind us of the necessity of unity--both in this country and in the world where we live. This is history. The Union Army's gunship Cairo was torpedoed and sunk on December 12, 1862.  There was a lot of controversy where the ship went down.  It was found and excavated in 1960. 17,000 of the 20,000 that were killed in the Battle at Vicksburg are buried here in the National Cemetery in Vicksburg.  I think they said 3,000 stones are marked as "unknown."
